It’s been 4 months since I first joined the team as a Business Analyst and so far it has been everything that I had hoped for and more.

My background is in logistics, but I realized pretty quickly when I first started working that I really liked working with people and clients and decided to change fields to be able to do that. I had done lots of onboarding and customer management, but when I found the role at Breathe Life it was offering a combination of all the jobs I loved, and I jumped at the opportunity. I wasn’t  looking for a new job at the time, but the conversations that I had with Max (and the rest of the Delivery Team), and what I saw of the culture really captured my attention. Despite my varied experience, I had the skills for the job and I remember Max telling me, “we love what you have to bring to the table and we’ll teach you the rest”, assuring me of the learning opportunities and team support. I knew this was the type of place I wanted to be in the next chapter of my career.

When I first started, it was a really crazy hectic experience, I really thrived on all of the new challenges and I felt supported and welcomed into my new team. I was really given the tools to be self-sufficient and grow, which is something I’ve appreciated.

I love the culture and the people at Breathe Life. It’s a team effort, everyone is willing to commit to advance what they can, there’s so much support and everyone takes care of each other. We work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, and it’s important to love that environment. I want to create relationships with the people around me and have fun with what you’re doing.

I love that we are a family and we’re treated as people and individuals whose work life balance is valued. Usually when you start a new job, there are always people that you don’t necessarily mesh with, but that hasn’t been the case at Breathe Life at all. Everyone is super cool and unique in their own way and we all click.

I think it’s important to get involved in the culture, it makes the job more rewarding and I feel like I’m able to make a difference. I want to provide a safe-space for everyone, it’s part of my identity to protect people as a woman of colour. I want to make sure that everyone has as wonderful an experience as I did and do.

I’ve loved my time at Breathe Life so much so far and am excited for the new adventures that the future holds for us.
